Nice crossover! I'm hoping there's a yoshi ship I can aquire somewhere.

Hhahahaah Fun Game :D

(1 edit) (+7)

You can meet other players in this game. But the likelihood of that happening is basically zero (because the developer haven't programmed that feature into the game)

This would be a perfect mobile game, it only uses four buttons, I'd really consider making a version of this for ios and android

Great work guys. My computer wont run No Man's Sky and now I don't have to. WIN!

Thx Tartle! Yes this is a drop-in replacement for NMS -- equivalent in all facets.

(1 edit) (+1)

I have to say, this is the best No Man's Sky fan made game yet. Made a video as well. Thanks!

Thanks, and thanks for the video! :)

Believe me, it was my pleasure!

Sup ASMB games, would it be fine to record this game and monetize off the video for my youtube channel?

(1 edit)

(I'm the M of ASMB)
Yep! Folks are already doing it but we've got not problem with people making videos of it.

E: I should probably add that this doesn't stop nintendo having a problem with it. I dunno if they're particularly anal about lets players though.

I love this so much! In the future, I'd like to see these: (No need to make these in the game, just an opinion)

- Koopas (This would add more depth as there would be more enemies in the world making it feel more lively).

- Mario Pipes (I noticed in 1-1 that the Mario Pipes were replaced with bricks. On the randomly generated worlds, maybe add pipes you could go down that would lead to the kind of battle when you confront a Hammer Bro in SMB 3? Or you could just make it deeper in the level. Either are equally awesome).

- Powerups (Currently, there only seems to be one kind of Powerup: the 1-UP. Maybe add a mushroom which would restore you back to the form you start in if you've been hit? If you were hit, you'd be Mini-Mario. Other than the mushroom, I'd add a Tanooki Tail powerup as well because sometimes you can't get past enemies without killing yourself for the invincibility).

- A Goal Flag/Star (Maybe add a Goal Flag/Star to the end of levels that would add to your total Star Count/Flag Count. After getting a large quantity of these stars/flags, a red Bowser face would spawn on the mini-map and you would have to fly there. It wouldn't be randomly generated and would be the final battle with Bowser. After beating that you locate Peach and the game ends.

These are just some thoughts and ideas. Overall, it's a great game! :D

You can use ship for short invincibility too

Thanks for all the suggestions! We'd really love to do all this but to be honest we probably won't have enough time. Thanks for playing. :)

THE BEST THING IN THE W

...ORLD?

That.

Is the game compatible with OS X 10.6.8?

Should be!

Thanks for downloading No Mario's Sky by ASMB Games. The download should start momentarily.

Nothing happens. WTF?

Try again! itch.io had some problems.

Would you please expand, please? :)

Sign up to the mailing list, and if we do expand it we'll let you know. :)

Done!

What are the LD zip files for?

We just updated the build. The zip marked LudumDare is the old version.

(+1)

Oh ok, thank you!

How do I reset the game and go back to World 1-1 on Mac OS X?

(1 edit)

You'll have to run it from the command line. Open up Terminal and change to the directory where the app bundle is, then run this command:

open ./NoMariosSky.app --args -resetPrefs

We'll add a reset button to the title screen soon!

Thank you so much!!!

I would really love to see this expanded upon, Though at the moment the game has many flaws. I get stuck in walls, mario is hard to control, and mario's animations often dont trigger or trigger at the wrong time. Love the work though! Also there isn't any source code is there? Just would be cool if i could port this to other platforms. I understand if it's not made public.

We've fixed many of those issues and will upload a new build very soon. Thanks for playing!

As for the source code, we'll see what happens. If we don't continue developing it then we'll probably release the source code.

The game is too floaty, it is really difficult to jump onto a small platform or a goomba. And Mario will get stuck in the jump pose very often

I downloaded the Linux version. Running Mint 17.3 64 bit HP Envy

Linux Fermi 3.16.0-38-generic #52~14.04.1-Ubuntu SMP Fri May 8 09:43:57 UTC 2015 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

16GB RAM

Crashed the whole fucking system. Well done.

If you have an Nvidia GPU and you're not using the Nvidia binary Linux drivers, try switching to them. The Mesa Nouveau drivers (which is probably what you're on) can be unstable and out of date.

Too floaty.. literally.

What an interesting little game! I tried really hard to find the princess but I am beginning to think that there is no princess lol. Either way I did a lets play of the game and my adventures with jacked Toad :D

Haha thanks for the Let's Play. Yeahhhhhh there may not actually be a princess. ;)

whadda jerk! Still a great game either way lol

I would really like to love this game, but i just simply can't. I like the idea of parodying NMS, with the climate, and the idea of exploring other planets. But the thing that is pissing me off, is the platforming. Imagine if every level of your favourite platforming game was an ice level. It's pretty much like that here. Even after releasing the move button, Mario still keeps going for a bit, which keeps leading to irritating deaths. I just keep dying. Sometimes i even respawn on enemies!

I'm still gonna play a bit tho, just to see how other planets look, etc.

Thanks for the feedback, we've fixed many of these issues now :)

I hope all four of you guys go somewhere major out of this.
Awesome job!

Yeah... to jail! ;)

Thanks for playing!

An infinite universe, with infinite Goombas. There's big ones. Short ones. One eyed ones... and *shudders* faceless ones.

This game is INCREDIBLE! Thanks so much for taking the time to make it! I think it's hilarious how we're all enjoying this more than No Man's Sky.

Cheers!

I delete everything... re-install it... still not able to re-start 1-1! And I have no clue to pass a comand line to -exe ... where can I delete the save?

dont you know how to add arguments to exe? just open cmd in the game directory, and type "NoMariosSky.exe -resetPrefs" and press enter

Thank you!!!! No, I dont know, Ill do it now! Thanks!

How do you get to the game directory

Open the game folder. Shift and right-click and choose "open command window". Then type the command mentioned above.

Interesting concept, and pretty good execution. My one complaint is the physics. It doesn't feel like i'm mario.

I need to re-do the intro but I have no clue how to pass some reset stuff to what exactly??? What???

I want to visit World 1-1 again! "If you pass -resetPrefs as a command line argument to NoMariosSky.exe then you'll restart at World 1-1."

what does this even mean?

NO MARIO'S SKY - all the fun of No Man's sky but 100% more Mario and 100% less money.

i found 2 issues

1. if i stand at a wall corner, then jump, i will stuck there

2. some mobs float in the air

PS: hope u can publish it at steam;)

edit:

3. another issue: if i fall to some (grey) stone, i crossed it. (the situation is XSSSX, X is brick, S is stone)
