I would really love to see this expanded upon, Though at the moment the game has many flaws. I get stuck in walls, mario is hard to control, and mario's animations often dont trigger or trigger at the wrong time. Love the work though! Also there isn't any source code is there? Just would be cool if i could port this to other platforms. I understand if it's not made public.
If you have an Nvidia GPU and you're not using the Nvidia binary Linux drivers, try switching to them. The Mesa Nouveau drivers (which is probably what you're on) can be unstable and out of date.
What an interesting little game! I tried really hard to find the princess but I am beginning to think that there is no princess lol. Either way I did a lets play of the game and my adventures with jacked Toad :D
I would really like to love this game, but i just simply can't. I like the idea of parodying NMS, with the climate, and the idea of exploring other planets. But the thing that is pissing me off, is the platforming. Imagine if every level of your favourite platforming game was an ice level. It's pretty much like that here. Even after releasing the move button, Mario still keeps going for a bit, which keeps leading to irritating deaths. I just keep dying. Sometimes i even respawn on enemies!
I delete everything... re-install it... still not able to re-start 1-1! And I have no clue to pass a comand line to -exe ... where can I delete the save?
We just noticed some crazy behaviour in low quality where the game runs way too fast. But it might be ok for you if your machine isn't very high spec. We'll be pushing out an update tomorrow to fix that.
I am unable to jump using space bar. Even if I reset it to space bar or switch space bar and z (the button it insists on using as "jump), I cannot get it to accept any input from the space bar. I even tried changing the jump input to another reasonable key, 'c', but it will only take z as the jump input.
i tried downloading the windows version using chrome and firefox. and it always stops @ 4mb of download. I've tried disabling my Anti Virus, and it's still the same. :(
Rad as hell! Something seems to be busted with the Windows file though, for some reason on multiple machines I can only download 4mb before it stops but OSX is fine.

How do I reset the game and go back to World 1-1 on Mac OS X?
You'll have to run it from the command line. Open up Terminal and change to the directory where the app bundle is, then run this command:
open ./NoMariosSky.app --args -resetPrefs
We'll add a reset button to the title screen soon!

We've fixed many of those issues and will upload a new build very soon. Thanks for playing!
As for the source code, we'll see what happens. If we don't continue developing it then we'll probably release the source code.
The game is too floaty, it is really difficult to jump onto a small platform or a goomba. And Mario will get stuck in the jump pose very often

dont you know how to add arguments to exe? just open cmd in the game directory, and type "NoMariosSky.exe -resetPrefs" and press enter

How do you get to the game directory
Open the game folder. Shift and right-click and choose "open command window". Then type the command mentioned above.
Interesting concept, and pretty good execution. My one complaint is the physics. It doesn't feel like i'm mario.

i found 2 issues
1. if i stand at a wall corner, then jump, i will stuck there
2. some mobs float in the air

Perhaps it's a performance issue. You could try running the game in low quality.

So I downloaded your guys game, and I have a Chromebook. It won't let me open the file and actually play the game.

We've never tested it on a Chromebook. The Chromebook uses Chrome OS which is a Linux OS. Did you try the Linux version?
ChromeOS doesn't run downloadable games. Short of unlocking developer mode and installing another operating system (not trivial), you're out of luck.

In the input dialog, try setting the "Fire1" to space.

Proper controller support is in there now. Hold the jump button down to go faster in the ship.
Anyone able to find where the game writes it's saves/config? I've run Directory Monitor and I've even checked the Registry. No dice.
In Windows the config is saved into the registry in HKCU\Software\ASMB\No Mario's Sky.
